When exploring the outskirts of Perth, do make a point to visit the Margaret River Chocolate Company and Winery. Cruising along the West Swan Road, will lead you North Eastward from Perth City, where these attractions will be found.

First stop, is the Margaret River Chocolate Company. This chocolate company produces their own home brand chocolates using their own recipes.

Upon entry to the chocolate company, you could peek through the observatory glass to see the production of chocolates in process. I’m not too sure as to whether large tour groups will be permitted entry into the factory to see the production of chocolates from raw to the end product; but in my case, we were only allowed to view the process from the outside.

Also at the Margaret River Chocolate Company, you will be able to taste various of their chocolates. What attracted us the most were the refrigerated chocolates offered at the chocolate counter. Perhaps if you were sweet enough, they would grant you your wish of tasting ‘em. Amongst the offerings were chocolates with liquor fillings (ie malibu, rum etc), dark chocolates, white chocolates, caramel chocolates and many more. Note that these chocolates are meant to be refrigerated and should not be left too long at room temperature as they would melt easily.

The next stop would be the Margaret River Winery. As this area is famous for its wineries, there are many different house wines available. Here we randomly bumped into this winery which harvests its own grapes and brewed to be their own house wine – Lancaster.

During the wine tasting session, you will be provided with a range of wines to taste; of which are progressively matured. The chilled wines tasted good and were really refreshing.

During the wine tasting session, we were also offered a range of cheeses for tasting. Apparently wine is meant to be complimented by cheese. The only cheese which I found tasty amongst the offerings was the Cheddar cheese. The rest somehow tasted stale to me.

Stay tuned for the next post, where we will meet the Koalas and Kangaroos at the Caversham Wildlife Park.
