Char Siew Rice at Mei Sek Restaurant USJ 14

Looking for a place that serves great chicken (char siew) rice? Hungry and no idea where to have your lunch? If you’re nearby the vicinity of USJ 14, make your way to Mei Sek Restaurant (Hawker Centre)! The place is really warm due to poor ventilation and the recent heatwave. However, there is no stopping Malaysians from doing whatever it takes to enjoy good food! Don’t worry, you are definitely in for a treat! On the side note, this restaurant (hawker centre) was shut down by the local council recently due to reports of people getting food poisoning after having their meals there. Hey, I’m still fine!

Other than chicken rice, there are other stalls which sell other food – if you decided not to have chicken rice at the last minute, all is not lost! The restaurant is famous for the chicken rice. Look for the stall “Lian Kee Chicken Rice” located near the front entrance. As usual, you are given the choice of your preference meat to go with the rice. I didn’t opt for chicken but went for char siew. I had an extra bowl of rice to go with it. I highly recommend that you try the chicken to experience the best they have to offer. The meat is soft and well, near perfect! (It might depend on the part of the chicken you decide to choose)

The char siew with and extra bowl of rice cost RM 5.80. Quite expensive but hey, I have no qualms paying that much! Note that if you took the chicken instead of the char siew, it would be slightly cheaper. Pork is more expensive than chicken meat. I give the char siew rice a 4/5.

Haha, apparently those people who had stomach problems probably had some other issues to start with. Sara and I have been eating there since we discovered it many years back, and we absolutely love the chicken rice there.(no stomach problems too!) Personal fave is the roast chicken thigh w/ roast pork. YUM.
