100 Century Avenue @ Shanghai World Financial Center
Posted by Genez
The Shanghai World Financial Center is a vision made reality of Shanghai. Soaring a height of 492m and an astonishing 101-floors, this building “pawns” all the other state of the art skyscrapers of Asia. The Shanghai World Financial Center welcomes all with the world’s highest observation deck (as at July 2009), and other luxury facilities.

Located on the 91st floor is the 100 Century Avenue. This restaurant offers the most sought after dining experience, combining views from the 91st floor of one of the world’s tallest buildings, overlooking the entire Shanghai city.

The rainy weather condition had clouds blockading the beautiful night scene of the city. Above is a seized clear moment of the view from the restaurant overlooking the Jin Mao Tower and the Oriental Pearl Tower of Shanghai.

This restaurant demonstrates a dynamic open kitchen concept. The show kitchen includes wood-fired ovens, steam, wok, sushi and charcuterie. In conjunction with its kitchen themes, the restaurant hence serves the aforementioned cuisines.

Cesar Salad. Being served with the usual romaine lettuce, crutons, shredded cheddar cheese and bacon, this salad was nothing extra-ordinary; but just a simple yet pricey entree.

The Australian Beef Tenderloin. The beef was made to be medium done, the marinade seeped well into the meat and tasted to extreme perfection. Being picked from the Grills offering, the beef was neither chewy nor fatty.

The Grilled Halibut. This grilled fish had a wonderful texture of being somewhat rubbery and flaky. Having a decent 250g portion, this slice of grilled Halibut had a rich spiced up flavor with a perfect fresh grilled fragrant.

Complimenting our main meals were the side dishes of Mash Potatoes and Baby Carrots. Same as the entree, the side dishes were just so-so.

Tantalizing our sweet-tooth, we ordered the restaurant’s signature dessert — Chocolate Cake. The cake was covered with a layer of Chocolate Gnocchi, being trademarked “100″ with white chocolates and dark chocolates. The chocolates tasted really good, having the dark chocolates tasting slightly bitter, while the white chocolates were milky and sweet. Dissecting into our portions, the cake had a layer of caramel, which gave crunches to your chews.

After dinner, the 92nd floor was our next stop. Being pampered to a choice of the Oriental Bar or Western Bar, the Western Bar was opted as the live Jazz Band were staging a performance then.

The fine dining experience at 100 Century Avenue was a memorable one indeed. However do expect to pay a BOMB when you choose to dine there! x
