A Journey with Malaysian Airlines Business Class (MH387)

The Malaysian Airlines routing Shanghai-Kuala Lumpur are the Boeing 777, MH388 and MH389, and the Airbus A330 MH387. The Boeing 777 Aircrafts would usually be the the passenger’s first choice as it smelt newer, felt newer and most importantly has personal Televisions for to keep boredom away. This time around, on the preferred day of flight, only the Airbus MH387 was in operation.

Having checked in at the Shanghai Airport Business Class Counter and having gone through all the immigration and health check procedures, the Business Class Lounge awaits to welcome your presence. If you’re no fan of Chinese Food, the food at the lounge will not be appealing to you at all. No matter, the internet services provided, massage chairs, clean and comfy restrooms really helped to suppress travel anxiety.

Being privileged as a Business Class Passenger, the Business Class lounge staff would come up to you and inform you of your flight’s boarding status. In fact, a special lane will be catered for Business Class Passengers to enter the plane, skipping all unnecessary time-consuming queues.

The Business Class is located at the front section of the Aircraft, having seat arrangements of 2, 2, 2; in contrast with the Economy Class’ seat arrangements of 2, 5, 2. Having fewer seats in a row, each seat were wider, had larger leg space and had recline-able feet and leg rests.

While cruising along the stratosphere, a clear view of the clouds could be seen through the window. Unlike in economy class, there was no obstruction by the wings.

This time Malaysian Airlines has improved their services, by having personal Portable Mobile In-flight Entertainment Devices. I am uncertain whether the Economy Class passengers would be given these Mobile Entertainments or not; but I do know for sure that the MH387 Business Class, did not provide this service before. Functioning exactly the same as the Peronalized TV of the Boeing 777s, this Mobile Entertainment runs on battery. A real long life battery that is!

As starters, Business Class Passengers were served with the ol’signature Satay dish. Making the effort to address you by your surname, the Cabin Crew came up, presenting the menu saying ‘Mr Lee, what would you like to have for lunch?’. There were four choices in the menu, and I opted for the Halibut Fish served with Potatoes, Broccoli and Carrots.

Also served as a side dish to the main course was the Turkey Breast with asparagus.

Being occupied with non-stop incoming food, In-flight Entertainments and lots of “tender loving care”, the 5 hour flight went pass really quick. Soon the Malaysian Soil was in vicinity through the window. A wonderful experience it was! Thumbs up to Malaysian Airlines! x

Pikey, I think perhaps RM 6-7k? I’m not too sure. This time, I got a free upgrade with my Enrich Miles (points) by travelling with MAS Economy Class. It takes 20,000 points for an upgrade.
