Few days back, me and the boyfriend decided to drop by for a meal at the newly open Pasta Zanmai in Sunway Pyramid. In conjunction with their grand opening, they are giving out coupons that has a few selected food with discounted price ranging from RM3 to RM5. Having heard all about its fame on good pasta, hence we made a beeline towards Pasta Zanmai.

What we ordered was Kinoko to Onsen Tamago no Cream Sauce (Japanese mushroom and hot spring egg with cream sauce) as well as Chicken Teriyaki no Onsen Tamago.

Onsen means hot springs in Japanese. Onsen tamago are eggs cooked in hot springs. Since eggs are slowly cooked in hot water of about 70-75 Celsius degrees (158-167 F), egg whites are soft and egg yolks are slightly hardened. Onsen tamago is often served in Japanese-style breakfast.

We did not go adventurous with the drink, we ordered iced Ocha. The iced Ocha are served in jugs, which is good for 3 people and it is refillable. As for the hot Ocha, they serve it in teapots.

While waiting for the food, I had a good look around the place. Though the place is a bit small but the ambiance is very nice. It doesn’t look too crowded as well. Service wise was good too. They are pretty prompt and fast in serving the customers. For the ambiance, I would rate it 7/10.

Chicken Teriyaki to Onsen Tamago

The only problem that I occur from this dish is that its lack of sauce. It is nonetheless a very delicious meal. The chicken was very tender and the sauce is not too sweet. The hot spring egg is just awesome!

Kinoko to Onsen Tamago no Cream Sauce

This would be both of our favorite dish. It is very creamy but it is not that creamy to the extend where one would feel like burping out the meal. They are very generous with the mushrooms and I could taste the mushroom in the cream sauce.

The cost of the whole meal came out to about RM40 (including taxes) and to be honest, it is worth a try! Below are locations where you can find Pasta Zanmai;
