Hornbill in Bird Park

Hornbill in Bird Park

Not long ago, I decided to go to the Orchid Park. Been there once with a group of friends and i thought it would be a great place for me to start my photography journey. The Orchid Park, or Taman Orkid as it is called, is located opposite the Bird Park. It is also a part of the Lake Gardens. As you leave the Bird Park behind and cross the road, you are face to face at the Orchid Park. It is a hectare long floral paradise where you can admire the orchids and obtain tips on how to grow them. Situated on a scenic hilltop within the Lake Gardens, this is the nicest park in KL. It’s just opposite Hop-On-Hop-Off bus stop 14. On that day, with inadequate time ticking on my watch, I only entered the Orchid Park but I manage to snap a picture of a hornbill when I paid a visit to the toilet in the Bird Park.

Tourists and locals alike take a stroll in the garden looking at stalls where you can also buy the blooming orchids and souvenirs. The garden remains open daily between 9 am to 6 pm. You can laze through the pergolas, delighting in the exotic blossoms of the flowers. Cut flowers are sold here on weekends, for the visitors who are looking for natural adornments for their home. In the morning, you can catch some old folks doing their daily jogging or tai-chi!

Free on weekdays (and for a small entry fee about RM1.00 on weekends and public holidays) – this place is well worth visiting if you enjoy flowers, photography or just visual surprises. As for me, I enjoy taking some pictures. It is really colorful and somehow, it helps to release stress from the hectic life!

An adjoining section is devoted to the hibiscus, which is the national flower, showcasing more than 2000 varieties of hibiscuses. The garden attracts flower-aficionados from all over the world. However, running out of time, I only manage to visit the orchids as well as the stalls selling them.
